When any of the Departmental databases is redesigned, for example, by adding a new field, Microsoft Access needs to be told to refresh its copy of the database design. If this is not done, instead of seeing the data in the normal way, all that is displayed is "name??", or similar, in each field. To correct this, follow the steps below.

1 Open the Linked Table Manager
To do this, from the Tools menu in Access, select Database Utilities, then click on Linked Table Manager.
2 Refresh the linked table list
Click the Select All button, then click OK. After a few moments, a confirmation box should appear. Click OK, then click Close.
Close and reopen the database form and everything should be back to normal. If not, contact IT Support.
