Receptionist and Administrative Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant with good organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines, to support several operational aspects of the department's activities. This role will have 3 areas of responsibility; reception duties to cover half of its operational hours (operational hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday), providing PA support to senior academics and ad hoc support for group leaders within the department and supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching administration as required.

Applicants must be educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, with a good level of numeracy and literacy. Previous reception and administrative experience in an office environment is essential, as well as excellent communication skills, with a good telephone manner and the ability to interact well with people at all levels. You must be competent in using a range of standard computer programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel and have experience of using a database. High levels of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail will also be vital for this role. A background in science might prove an advantage, but is not a prerequisite.

This full-time permanent post is funded by the department and is based at the New Biochemistry Building, South Park Road, Oxford.

This position is graded on the University's Grade 4 scale, for which the salary range is £21,585 - £24,983 per annum. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available
