Internal funding

The John Fell Fund

The next deadlines for applications to the Fund will be Wednesday, 8 Oct 2015 (noon).

The deadlines apply to both Main and Small award schemes under the John Fell Fund, in addition to Divisional awards for the Humanities Division: for further information on Divisional applications within Humanities, please refer to the divisional website. Please note that all applications require departmental approval prior to being submitted to the relevant division and departmental deadlines may be several days in advance of this deadline. Please check with your departmental administrator and ensure applications are submitted in sufficient time to allow for this approval process.

Medical Research Fund

The next deadlines for applications to the Fund will be Wednesday, 26 October 2015 (noon).

The Medical Research Fund (MRF) supports medical research conducted in departments of the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford.

Awards are made through three funding schemes to promote work in the field of medical research:

- Bridging salary: The bridging salary scheme accepts applications to augment existing externally funded research activity, by providing short-term (typically 3 months) funding to cover salary costs. This can be used to retain experienced research staff between external research grants and to support family leave costs.

- Pump priming: The pump priming funding scheme accepts applications for small awards (up to £10k) to enable investigators to obtain pilot data to support larger scale applications for external research funding in the future. Non-staff research costs, including equipment, are eligible. Priority will be given to those applications that demonstrate matching funding from other sources.

- Clinical pre-fellowship: The pre-fellowship scheme accepts applications for short-term (up to 3 months) funding to cover the salary costs of clinicians who will shortly begin an externally funded research training fellowship at Oxford.

There are four annual deadlines for this scheme.
