Daphne Jackson Fellowships
Are you a scientist, technologist, engineer or mathematician who has had a career break of 2 or more years for family, caring or health reasons and wishes to return to research? If so the Daphne Jackson Trust may be able to help.
A Daphne Jackson Fellowship is a unique fellowship designed to return STEM professionals to their careers after a break. Fellows normally carry out their research part-time over 2 years, in a university or research establishment in the UK. The Fellowships are flexible and include a tailored training programme designed to update skills and knowledge and support you in your return to research.

Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship
This scheme is for outstanding scientists in the UK at an early stage of their research career who require a flexible working pattern due to personal circumstances such as parenting or caring responsibilities or health issues. Female candidates are particularly invited to apply.
L'Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Fellowships
The L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science programme recognises the achievements and contributions of exceptional females across the globe, by awarding promising scientists with Fellowships to help further their research.
Wellcome Trust Career Re-entry Fellowships
This scheme is for postdoctoral scientists who have recently decided to recommence a scientific research career after a continuous break of at least two years.
It gives such scientists the opportunity to return to high-quality research, with the potential to undertake refresher or further training.
The fellowship is particularly suitable for applicants wishing to return to research after a break for family commitments.

We can help cover the cost of registration, accommodation and/or care provider cover to attend one of our conferences, workshops or training days. Anyone on a career break can apply.
These Stay Connected Bursaries recognize that science moves at a rapid pace, and keeping up with the latest developments is pivotal in returning to a scientific career. They make it easier for people on a career break to remain engaged with the science community and return to work, if they wish.

University of Oxford Staff - Returning Carer's Fund
A Returning Carer’s Fund has been established as part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Diversity Fund for the advancement of diversity among academic and research staff at Oxford.
Applications are invited from women and men for funding to support the development of their research career following a break to care for a child or close relative.
The expectation is that awards will normally be up to £5k. In exceptional circumstances, larger amounts may be awarded, up to an absolute maximum of £10k.
Applications must be discussed and agreed with the staff member’s supervisor or Head of Department. The next closing date is March 10th 2015.

Rosalind Franklin Fellowships
Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences,
University of Groningen, Netherlands.
The Rosalind Franklin Fellowship programme is aimed at women in industry, academia or research institutes who have a PhD and would like a career as full professor in a European top research university. The Fellowship is only awarded to outstanding researchers. Successful candidates will be expected to establish an independent, largely externally funded research programme in collaboration with colleagues at our Faculty and elsewhere.
They will also be expected to participate in and contribute to the development of the teaching programme of their discipline. The University of Groningen has 30 tenure track positions available in this programme, currently cofunded by the European Union.

Schlumberberger Foundation Awards
This program, now in its tenth year, supports women scientists from developing countries through grants to enable them to pursue PhDs and Post doctorate studies in scientific and engineering disciplines at leading universities worldwide.
The British Federation of Women Graduates (BFWG) Scholarships
The British Federation of Women Graduates scholarships are for women who will be in their third year of doctoral studies or part time equivalent at the time when the awards are given out (the autumn of each year). The awards are given on the basis of evidence of academic excellence as shown on the application form, referee reports and, for those shortlisted, brief presentations of their research to a panel of academics. The amounts offered in awards range upwards from £1000 with the average award being around £3000.
