Professor Raymond Dwek receives Honour from Romanian Academy
Professor Raymond Dwek, along with Professor Baruch Blumberg and Dr Richard Lerner (Honorary members of the Department), received the Honoris causa award from the Romanian Academy of Science in Bucharest on March 23.

This award is reserved for Academy Presidents and other outstanding cultural and scientific personalities.
The distinction recognises Professor Dwek's contribution to the development of Romanian science, in the field of Biochemistry and Glycobiology.
In collaboration with the Oxford Glycobiology Institute, scientists from the Romanian Academy's Institute of Biochemistry have developed advanced biochemical technologies. The collaboration has continued in the recent years with many Romanian young scientists being trained in Oxford as PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
On their return to Romania, these highly qualified scientists have provided expertise which has improved the level of science in Romania.
