An Advanced
Practical Course in NMR Techniques for Membrane Proteins

Location of meeting: This Advanced Practical Course
will take place at the Rutherford
Appleton Laboratory, near Didcot, Oxfordshire OX11 0QX. The
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) has a global reputation for excellence and
is one of the foremost laboratories of its kind. RAL supports research in areas
including materials and structures, light sources, astronomy and particle
physics. Every year about 10,000
scientists and engineers use the Laboratory's facilities to advance their
research. Many are academics and post-graduate students working on projects
funded by the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC). In addition,
the University of Oxford’s Biological
Solid State NMR Facility is based at RAL. This Facility is equipped with
some of the most advanced instruments (at 200MHz, 400MHz, 500MHz and 800MHz) in
the world for use in structural biology.
Accommodation: Accommodation will be in the on-site Ridgeway House for bed
and breakfast. This facility has 62 newly furbished en-suite bedrooms, all
equipped with flat screen televisions, internet access, 24 hour security,
black-out blinds and tea and coffee making facilities. Ridgeway House has a
fully equipped kitchen and dining area, seating 64 guests. Breakfast, which is included in the
room price, is served in the dining area, and comprises either a fully cooked
English breakfast or a continental style breakfast. There is a leisure room on the 2nd floor where guests can
relax and enjoy chess, pool, darts, and a 42" plasma television.
The cost for this accommodation will be covered by
E-Mep Lab funds.
