The Poster exhibition for 3rd year D.Phil. students was held in the University Museum on Thursday 20th June, 3 - 6pm. Holding the posters on a single afternoon was a departure from previous years' events but it turned out to be a favourable format for students and staff. Of the 30 posters presented, several were of an exceptionally high standard and this was reflected in the difficult selection of the prizes for best poster. Indeed, the winning presentations were separated by only 3 votes. The exhibition was well attended by members of the Department and almost 100 votes were cast from those present in favour of the following students:
50 Book Token: Ce-Belle Chen - The role of mannose-binding associated serine proteases in complement activation.
25 Book Tokens: Margaret Stafford - Signalling events involving protein kinase D in human platelets.
Tanya Heare - Gross vasomotor dysfunction in the Fabry disease mouse and partial prevention with N-butyldeoxynojirimycin treatment.

Congratulations to the winners and to all presenters for a stimulating and thoroughly pleasant afternoon. Our thanks to GlaxoSmithKline, Oxford GlycoSciences and The Oxford Science Park for their financial support and the staff of the University Museum for making us welcome.
Terry Butters, on behalf of the Senior Departmental Teaching Associates.
