This guide attempts to put all your Mac-related guides in one place. A general introduction to using Macs here in the department is as follows:
Fixed, departmentally-owned Mac desktops (like iMacs, Mac Minis, Mac Pros) are registered on the departmental network via an IT job request at which point they get a fixed departmental IP address giving them access to many of our internal resources.
Laptops etc. don't get registered, but rather use the wireless network (or wired adapter if greater bandwidth is needed) and use the departmental VPN service to gain access to internal resources, including network printers.

These guides are not quite current but the general setup principles are still the same in newer versions of these programs.
One known issue when setting up Mac Mail is that sometimes at the end of the setup process you'll see a box like this ending with fields "Internal URL" / "External URL" containing this text written in grey: https://exchange.example.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx and you can get no further.
In this case, just fill in the address "nexus.ox.ac.uk" in both of the fields, check the information in the other fields is correct, click "Sign In" and all should be well.
