Professor Jonathan Hodgkin

Professor Jonathan Hodgkin has been awarded the prestigious Edward Novitski prize for 2017 by the Genetics Society of America, in recognition of his "extraordinary creativity and intellectual ingenuity in solving significant problems in genetics research".

Jonathan has made many outstanding contributions to genetics - testament to his remarkable command of genetic knowledge and understanding. In addition to working out the sex determination pathway in C. elegans by using a combination of forward genetics and epistasis analysis, he has also led the field in several other areas, including informational suppression, natural variation and host-pathogen interactions. The prize will be awarded to Jonathan at the 21st C. elegans Conference which will be held June 21-25 at UCLA.
