Elena's research focuses on molecular mechanisms in development and disease.
EMBO members influence the direction of the life sciences and strengthen research communities in Europe and beyond. New members are selected through an annual nomination and election process, ensuring that EMBO Members continue to represent diverse research areas and emerging trends.
The EMBO Members' Meeting, a formal welcome and celebration of the new members, will take place in Heidelberg, Germany, from 30 September – 2 October 2026. A directory listing all members with affiliations and subject areas is available online on the EMBO website.

By contributing their unique perspectives and experiences, they will greatly strengthen the network of leading life scientists who are shaping the field.”
*Of the 71 new members, 35 (49%) are women and 36 (51%) are men. They are based in 17 member states of the EMBC and six further countries.
