Induction/First-day

The first thing we’ll need you to do, if you haven’t already, is present your identification documents to the HR team to prove you have the right to work in the UK.  For further information, including which alternative documents you can bring, please have a look at the right to work checklist, which can be found on the Home Office website. Your start date may be delayed if the HR team have not seen the correct documents.

If you’ve not already signed your contract and given your P45 to HR then please bring these with you on your first day. If you don't have a P45, complete a Starter Checklist form and send it to HR.

The HR Team will provide you with your University card. As well as being a form of identification when you are in University buildings, this card will also grant you swipe access to the buildings you need to enter. You will be given access to the relevant building(s) for you, including out of hours access where necessary.  In addition, your University Card also gives you access to a number of discounts for University employees.

The HR Team will refer you to the IT team, who will ensure that you have your IT Services username (also referred to as your Single Sign-on or SSO), so that you can complete your IT registration and start using University computers, Wi-Fi and printers. Please email IT if you have any problems.

Today is also the day to get to know your workplace, including the standard health and safety procedures, security and evacuation. Your manager should start working through your induction checklist with you to cover these and other useful things.

You will receive a Health & Safety and IT induction during your first week. A member of the HR Team will provide you with the details of both sessions.

Worth checking: Your start at University  and New to University and Oxford (SSO required).
